Is tuberculosis genetic?

Contrary to popular belief, Tuberculosis (TB) is NOT passed down a family tree. TB is caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis and mainly affects the lungs. It is a communicable disease and spreads through tiny droplets released in the air through coughing or sneezing by an active TB patient.

The good news is TB is treatable and in India treatment and care are provided by the government in the public sector and by private sector healthcare providers.
